Part 2/part 4 storey extension to existing two story student accommodation building to provide 4 storey residential development comprising 12 one, two and three bedroom apartments and new retail premises within Classes A2 and A3. Request for a call-in was unsuccessful but still appears as ‘current’ in ukplanning.com in spite of being Approved by the Planning Committee on 8 April.

09/00317/F – Bristol Zoo Gardens

09/01315/F – Royal West of England Academy

09/01386/F – Bristol Zoo Gardens

09/0115/F – 91 Princess Victoria Street

Alterations and extension of existing building comprising office space at ground floor and separate two-bed self-contained flat above. Withdrawn

09/01695/F – Queen’s Court, Queen’s Road

Formation of an additional 4 two-bed and 2 three-bed apartments at roof level, including refuse and cycle storage. No decision
CAP considered that additional information must be provided before the application can be properly judged, including a section showing whether the additional storey was visible from the street and more distant views, for instance from Edgcumbe House. In the meantime, the proposed additional storey was tedious and mundane when it should celebrate the character of the existing building.

09/01157/F & 01158/LC – 19 Jacob’s Wells Road

Demolition of rear premises, alterations and extension to existing street fronting building to provide 63 units of student residential accommodation. No decision
CAP was dismayed at the proposal to demolish all but the facade of these buildings. This was possibly the site of the first theatre in Bristol and also of a carpet beaters and at one time an 18th century brewery. The archaeological assessment lacked essential detail and much more investigation must take place. The 1884 1:500 plan was missing.
The current buildings on the site were an important group of vernacular utilitarian buildings at the foot of Georgian Clifton. The principle of placing tall buildings in valleys destroyed the topography of the area.

09/01747/LA – 7 & 8 Rodney Place

Alterations to existing front boundary wall to accommodate trees. No decision

09/01278/F & 01279/LC – Garage adjacent to 1 Alma Vale Road

Replacement of existing single storey garage with new 2 storey development to provide office accommodation at ground floor and 1 two bedroom self-contained flat at first floor level. No decision

*** 09/01379/VC - All Saints Church, Pembroke Road

Fell 5 Lime trees located on boundary with Alma Vale Road. The trees are of considerable amenity value and the reasons put forward for their removal are not justified, with the exception of the tree nearest the church building. A Tree Preservation Order is being applied to the four trees nearest Pembroke Road, the removal of the tree furthest from Pembroke Road is accepted.
