CAP considered that the old rubble wall must be retained. Although the parapet and coping matched the building on the left hand side, the pitched roof of the one on the right hand side was more appropriate and should be followed. The cedar boarding is not appropriate for this location. The drawings did not make clear the distance between the rear windows and terrace of the proposed building and the rear windows of 17 Vyvyan Terrace, and showed no indication of the boundary in the garden. The Panel objected.

A major reason for CHIS’s objections to this plan is that of the national threat of studentification. In many cities there is the danger of the ‘Heston effect’ by which a whole suburb of Nottingham was occupied almost entirely by students.
