Annual General Meeting followed by Gordon Young's wonderful films.

Oct 23, 2018

Our AGM will take place at the Apostle Room at Clifton Cathedral at 8pm on Tuesday, 23rd October, doors open at 7.30pm. The usual refreshments will be available.

The short business meeting will be followed by a screening of three of Gordon Young's always fascinating films. On this occasion he plans to entertain us with the following:

  1. 'Edward's Bristol & Hotwells Guide'. Gordon will narrate from this rare 1805 Bristol guide book whilst showing matching present-day images. 10 mins.

  2. 'It Could Have Been So Different'. The harrowing story of the 1960's plan to build a multilevel road system in the city docks and on up to Clifton. 9 mins.

  3. 'A Window in the Sky'. The (unusually south-facing) street in front of St Mark's, the Lord Mayor's Chapel, was replaced in the 1800's. The original window was built in a garden in Henbury. Gordon has filmed in the Chapel and the garden and will recount a little known but extraordinary story. 16 mins.
