Dedication of General Draper Information Lectern.

Nov 27, 2021

Clifton residents are familiar with the obelisk and sarcophagus on Christ Church Green but how many of us know the history of these distinctive monuments?

A much needed information lectern has now been erected by CHIS, kindly sponsored by the Feneley family in memory of their parents, Pat and Roger Feneley, who loved this part of the Downs.

The lectern will be officially dedicated on Saturday, November 27th at 11am, on Christ Church Green, near the monuments. There will be short talks about Roger Feneley, a well respected Bristol surgeon and Clifton resident, and about Lieutenant General Sir William Draper who lived at nearby Manilla Hall.

The dedication will be followed by coffee and light refreshments for members and guests in the crypt of Christ Church.
