CHIS Commemoration plaque for the marriage of Agatha Christie

Mar 2, 2024

On Saturday March 2nd 2024 at 11am at Emmanuel Court, Guthrie Road, Clifton, BS8 3EY a CHIS green plaque will be dedicated by the Lord-Lieutenant Mrs Peaches Golding OBE CStJ. The plaque is to recognise that on Christmas Eve 1914 Agatha Mary Clarissa Miller married Captain Archibald "Archie" Christie RFC at Emmanuel Church, Guthrie Road to become Mrs Agatha Christie, later Dame Agatha Christie DBE. Although the main body of the church was converted into apartments in the 1970’s, the tower was preserved, probably, at the suggestion of local architects.

The screenwriter and director turned successful crime writer, Bristol-born and educated Tim Sullivan will give a short speech and after the dedication we will move to the Newbolt Room in Clifton College for coffee/tea and nibbles.
